Child Base Nursery - Train the Trainer

Background
We developed this Train the Trainer programme especially for Child Base - one of the UK's premier group of children's nurseries. Child Base won a listing in The Times top 100 companies voted by their employees as most satisfying to work for. We were asked to run a programme that would lead to each staff trainer receiving an accreditation.

First of all, we attended one of Child Base's training sessions, then visited several Child Base nurseries and met with some key staff who would be required to run staff training sessions. This enabled us to design a specific bespoke programme that fully met all of Child Base's needs and incorporated their own in-house style. Key core skills we were asked to focus on were: Training confidently without reading from a script; Ability to create own notes to follow; Training delivery that is not a ‘carbon copy’ of other Lead Trainers; Show individuality and flair Ability to research subjects and adapt training; Ability to ‘read the room’ and adapt accordingly Motivate trainees that have been ‘coerced’ into taking part; Deliver training in a fun and inspirational manner; Presentation skills (room set up and layout; effective use of equipment & visuals; vocal delivery; personality projection, having a plan B….

Accreditation Process

For Lead Trainers:
Accreditation for the Lead and Support Trainers involved our witnessing practice training session run by each trainer during the four days of training, particularly on day four. We listed all criteria required, evaluated performance against each, and provided marks against each element as we found evidence and demonstration.
For Their Trainees:
We also provided Child Base with a booklet (for internal duplication) which each Lead Trainer could use to assess and accredit the people they trained. This was used through observation of their real life training sessions. Finally, on receipt of assessment sheets, we supplied certificates of accreditation to each trainer.

Training Style & Venue Requirements
The programme is fully interactive within a positive workshop style environment. All points are covered in exact relevance to individual needs.

The programme requires one large room for each session (at least 40' x 30'), with u shape or boardroom style seating, LCD projector (such as a LitePro) and screen.
