'Handling The Media Is An Art In Itself!'

Who Should Attend: All those who are (or might be!) called upon to give a radio or television interview on behalf of their company or organisation.
Objectives: To provide delegates with knowledge and practice that will enable them to make the most of media interviews; gain the confidence to handle interviews effectively and a framework to communicate the points they want to get across. Ultimately the course is aimed at helping promote or enhance either corporate image or individual careers as appropriate.
Style: The training is highly practical and interactive using voice recording or CCTV for delegates to view their performance.

Outline 2 day programme for up to 6 delegates:

- How they seek out stories - operations & channels

- Creating opportunities to use the media
- Different types of interviews - planned - on the spot etc.
- How to come across - your attitude to them
- The subject - formulating the main points and messages
- Getting the points across within the interview
- Handling tricky questions whilst making your own points
- What to do and what not to do - advice from professionals

- The telephone interview
- The (face to face) press interview
- The radio interview
- What to expect (location or studio set up)
- Use of the voice on the radio
- How to mention your organisation appropriately
- The television interview
- What to expect (location or studio interview)
- Looking good! - clothes, colour, make up
- How to 'show off' logos (the options available)
- How to 'come across' well in the interview
- Handling problems and distractions
- Saying what you want, not what the interviewer wants

How to promote yourself and/or your own organisation most effectively within the limits set by the media concerned

How an interview might be set up and what to expect in terms of location & environment

Effective planning & preparation for media interviews

How to manage nerves and 'stage fright' to sound and appear confident

How to get your message across within the interview

How to handle tricky interviews and difficult questions

This course can be tailored specifically for your company & run at the venue of your choice
The programme can also be adapted to include press interviews
For some programmes we might suggest a visit to a radio or television studio should be included
This training can also be given on an individual (one to one coaching) basis

Requirements: Large Room (approx. 30' X 20') with U shape or boardroom seating
Television monitor (as large as possible)
Overhead projector & screen
Flip chart pad & stand
Separate syndicate room (if more than 4 delegates)
